Downsizing Collection

After many years of collecting radios I have finally run out of room, and that dreaded word "downsizing" has reared its ugly head. This first round is limited to radios that I can live without, so please do not be offended if I tell you it's not for sale (all that means is it's not for sale at the present time). So if you see something you like please let me know. I will tell you if I will consider selling it and then you can decide what you want to pay for it. I will accept offers only. Please do not ask me what I want for it, it is up to you to make an offer. Of course I will send you a complete description with pictures so you know what you are buying. Shipping will be added to the total unless your offer is to good to be true, and in that case shipping is negotiable. Just click on the rectangular button called Collection and make up your wish list. Please remember that my usual For Sale list with descriptions, pictures, and prices is still functional. Thanks for helping me make my wife happy.

EICO HFT-90 item #1606
This is an EICO Model HFT-90 FM mono tuner. It appears to be in very good condition and the brass front is very nice. I examined the chassis and it has all but one original EICO tubes. I powered it up and the blue exclamation point tuning tube lights up just fine (great retro look). I did not try to hook it up to an amp. The only issue I could see was the pot metal band on the counterweight of the tuning mechanism has some cracks in it (like almost all old pot metal). This does not effect the performance of the tuning mechanism (that works fine). If this was my set I would use a small brush and spread a thin band of epoxy over the top of the pot metal and that will stabilize the cracking. Has complete set of labels on bottom with tube compliment and input output locations.

Zenith 6G501M item #1605
Zenith Model 6G501M Universal Portable (AC or battery) radio from 1941. This radio is historically significant as the forerunner of the Transoceanic series. It is a broadcast only receiver. The airplane cloth exterior which is often found in ripped or rough condition is really in nice shape. Everything looks original (except for the leather handle which was replaced) and in excellent condition including the removable Wavemagnet antenna. I tried to power it up but only got a hum so you know what that means (replace electrolytics of course). The insides are remarkably clean as pictured. If you collect historically important radios or just want an excellent example of this popular Zenith portable consider this one for sure. Included is the original installation and operating instructions that came with the radio when it was bought new (not pictured).

Stromberg Carlson 1500H item #1603
Super deco looking Stromberg Carlson Model 1500H. Bakelite cabinet nice and shiny but has one hairline over the dial on the top but it has been epoxied from the inside so not a problem. Does not detract from the radio (you probably would not know its there unless pointed out but this is not eBay so all defects are disclosed). Tag on radio said chassis was restored and the radio is playing really well. Original dial plastic in excellent condition (not easy to find this way). Nice bullet knobs, full back and label.

$60.00      condition: good

Chassis - Radiola 76ZX11 item #1599
Chassis from an early Radiola Model 76ZX11. Looks original and complete but cord cut so untested. This is the 6 tube version and they really work well with that extra stage.

Books - A Collectors Guide to Antique Radios Vol 6 item #1592
I have a limited number of brand new copies of A Collectors Guide to Antique Radios Vol 6 edited by John Slusher of Radio Daze. If you have the earlier volumes you know what a fantastic reference guide this is to radio values and to identifying your old radios. Worth it alone for the pictures. These can be sent media mail to US only addresses. Original price was $24.95. I also have earlier volumes that are long out of print so please ask about pricing (conditions vary from very good to excellent). Special pricing on complete sets volumes 1-6 (2nd picture shows the original Bunis Volume 1 that started it all back in 1991).

$15.00      condition: excellent

Bendix 0636C item #1591
Very nice Bendix Model 0636C radio. Wooden case in very good condition with original finish with some age related wear marks (Old English or Howards will easily cover them up). 6 tube chassis was electronically restored and is playing fine. Beautiful basket weave front grill over speaker. Knobs are original and perfect. Full back and label on bottom. This was part of my collection but thinning out so here is an opportunity to get one of those seldom seen radios in great shape.

$85.00      condition: good

Chassis - Emerson 301 item #1587
Chassis from an Emerson Model 301. Powered up but only got a hum so needs recapping (line cord missing plug). Worth it for tubes and original field coil speaker in decent shape.

$15.00      condition: fair

Chassis - Blaupunkt Ballett TYP 20003 item #1586
Chassis out of a Blaupunkt Ballett Type 20003. The case was badly cracked so I removed it and the speaker. The chassis looks good and I was able to power it up but only got garbled sound from a few stations on the broadcast band. I am sure the original electrolytics and various other caps need updating. These German sets are extremely well engineered and sound great once working. The knobs and pushbuttons are original and the dial looks very nice. The speaker is in good condition as well. Price is for the chassis + speaker.

$45.00      condition: fair

Cabinet - Philco 40-140 item #1585
Cabinet from a Philco Model 40-140. Original finish intact just needs some cleaning. Small sliver of veneer missing from bottom side in back. Loop antenna intact on inside top. Original plastic dial cover has a small crack but still useable. Escutcheon also has a tiny crack on the right side but hard to notice. Original grill cloth looks great. Bargain at $20 or let me know if you want anything off the cabinet.

$20.00      condition: fair

Chassis - Delco R1125 item #1582
This is an older Delco Model R1125 transformer operated chassis out of a small wooden radio case. It uses the older tubes (80, 6A7, 75,78,41) so I would date it from the late 1930's (I was surprised to see a GT style 80 rectifier). The good news is that the radio is working but I would still recap. It has the original wood knobs correct for the set. The field coil speaker is in amazing shape and it has the mounted output transformer. Because of the scarcity of these small 5" field coil speakers in this condition I am offering it for sale by itself for $25 or included with the chassis for $40. Also I have the original wood case but it is in rough condition as something spilled on the top causing the veneer to crack and pull away from the top. However it is still fully restorable and I will include it along with the grille cloth if you want it and are willing to pay the additional shipping.
